Carson Praises President Obama's Supreme Court Nominee

Today, Congressman Carson issued the following statement after President Obama announced his nomination of Appellate Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court:

"Earlier this week, President Obama once again made history by introducing Judge Sonia Sotomayor as his nominee to replace Justice David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court. When her appointment is confirmed by the Senate, Judge Sotomayor will become the first Hispanic American and the third woman to sit on our nation's highest court. I am confident that with her first-rate education and inspiring life story, Judge Sotomayor will provide a unique perspective to the most consequential legal issues.

"Throughout her career as a federal prosecutor, private sector attorney and member of the federal District Court and Court of Appeals, Judge Sotomayor has demonstrated unsurpassed professional integrity and a dedication to the law that has made her one of our nation's foremost legal scholars. I applaud President Obama for selecting an extraordinarily qualified woman, and I am confident she will serve in the greatest traditions of the United States Supreme Court for sometime to come."
