Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., released the following statement today as the House of Representatives considered H.R. 2356, the FY 2009 Supplemental Appropriations Bill to support military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan:
"These funds are essential for supporting our service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan," said Capito. "I applaud the bipartisan nature of this vote and the real cooperation we've seen from members of both parties to provide our troops with the resources necessary to accomplish their mission."
"To see members of both parties rise above partisan bickering to stand together in support of our troops is both gratifying and reassuring. Our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines serve their nation with honor and dignity, and this bill serves as a reminder to them that their nation stands firmly behind their hard work."
H.R. 2356 received wide bipartisan support in this afternoon's House vote, and is also supported by the Obama Administration.
