Deeds Closing Statement Excerpts at the William & Mary Debate

Earlier today, Senator R. Creigh Deeds participated in the Farm Team 2009 Democratic Gubernatorial Debate at the College of William and Mary, proving that he has a plan to create opportunity in every corner of this commonwealth, by investing education and alternative and renewable energy, and by creating jobs.

"Bob McDonnell is actually proud that he's stood in the way of the progress we've made these last years under Mark Warner and Tim Kaine. Virginia's middle class families don't stand a chance with Bob McDonnell in the Governor's mansion."

"That progress that won't be protected by defeating Bob McDonnell alone. Our party will no longer be the party of the middle class if our nominee for Governor is beholden to Donald Trump or Wall Street executives or to tainted defense contractors, who have received millions in earmarks from an older brother in Congress. We have lost our way if we allow the Wall Street culture or the corrupt political establishment to dictate our agenda for the next four years."

"I'm proud of my record, but what makes me best prepared to be Governor is the fact that my wife works full-time, we have four kids - two in college - and I understand exactly the challenges middle class families are facing these days. That's why my plans to rebuild our economy are built on common-sense."

"I will create opportunity in every corner of this commonwealth, by investing education and alternative and renewable energy, and by creating jobs. Every single day, I will be a Governor who is on your side."
