"Virginia, it's absolutely clear that middle-class families don't stand a chance with Bob McDonnell in the Governor's mansion. McDonnell's opposition to stem cell research -- and his opposition a woman's right to choose, even in cases of rape or incest, put him well outside the mainstream.

"And sadly, Bob McDonnell is actually proud that he's stood in the way of the progress Democrats have made under Mark Warner and Tim Kaine. But I'm proud to have stood with Mark and Tim to fight for middle-class families every step of the way. Proud to put education before special interest tax breaks. And proud to put a cleaner environment before corporate polluters.

"This primary is about who has the best chance to beat Bob McDonnell and who is best prepared to stand up for working families. And I'm not convinced that hard-working Virginians want a nominee who made millions on high-interest credit card deals and stands with Donald Trump and Wall Street executives and gets over 80 percent of his campaign contributions from out of state. And I don't think our party wants a nominee who continues to stand with a lobbyist under FBI investigation. We will have lost our way if we allow the Wall Street culture to dictate our agenda for the next four years.

"I believe no Democrat is more prepared to be our next Governor, what gives me the best perspective is the fact that my wife works full-time, we have four kids -- two in college, and I understand exactly the challenges middle-class families are facing these days. That's why my plans to rebuild our economy start with education and a common-sense solution for transportation. And Virginia, I promise you if I'm elected -- every single day you'll have a Governor who is on your side."
