Rep. Kirkpatrick Supports Non-Partisan Bill to Protect Consumers, Small Businesses from Unfair Practices
Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick today issued the following statement on her vote in favor of the Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights, which passed the House this evening with widespread support from Members of both parties:
"We are still a long way from economic recovery, and in these tough times people are relying on credit more and more. Families use it to fill up their gas tanks and put food on the dinner table, and small business owners use it to guarantee they can meet their costs at all times.
"Just as with government, businesses work best when they are honest, transparent and accountable, and this bill will hold credit card companies to that standard. This bill will protect individual and small business consumers, make sure they have the information they need to make more financially responsible decisions and help us continue to get our economy back on the right track."
