LATINO CAUCUS CHAIRMAN CEDILLO CALLS FOR SOBER COMPROMISES IN THE CALIFORNIA STATE BUDGET
State Senator Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) called on cost efficient and effective measures to deal with the budget deficit. In reaction to the Republican proposal to close the deficit, Cedillo proposes the creation of more revenues.
"We need more funds not necessarily more cuts. The budget problem is grave but we must find a consensus that takes us to the center not disintegrates California families' health and education safety nets in times of crisis," stated Cedillo.
Cedillo also reiterated today that the fiscal challenges that we face today are not caused by undocumented and immigrant communities, which contribute to the U.S. economy $450 billion dollars a year as consumers.
Legislators will continue to have ongoing budget hearings this week in Sacramento.
