THE LATINO CAUCUS IS DEEPLY DISSAPOINTED [sic] IN THE GOVERNOR'S SWIFT VETO OF THE BUDGET PROPOSAL
Senator Gilbert Cedillo (D-22) Chair of the 26 member Latino Caucus issues the following statement of behalf of the caucus:
"I am extremely disappointed and frustrated that the Governor has immediately rejected the Democratic budget solution which generates revenues and makes necessary cuts. Due to the Governor's absence of leadership and failure to secure any Republican support for revenue increases, Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and Speaker Karen Bass were left with few other alternatives. Their creative solution would have solved $18 billion of our $41 billion budget deficit, and it is shameful and irresponsible that he rejected it. Now the clock will continue ticking."
