U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representatives Marion Berry (AR-01), Vic Snyder (AR-02), and Mike Ross (AR-04) today announced that 12 community health centers in Arkansas will receive a combined $3,090,457 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which Congress passed earlier this year. The funds can be used to add staff, expand hours of operations, and expand services.

"Our community health centers fill a vital need in delivering affordable, quality health care for Arkansans, especially those who live in rural areas of the state. These funds will help them expand their outreach and improve care. I'm pleased to see our state receive these economic recovery funds, and I'll continue to do all I can to ensure that Arkansans receive the highest quality of health care," said Lincoln.

"Too many Arkansans have to choose between health care and putting food on the table during this period of economic uncertainty," said Pryor. "These funds will allow our community health centers to expand critical medical services and ensure patients receive quality preventive and primary care."

"This funding will provide resources to help Arkansans get better health care," said Berry. "The number of Americans lacking primary and preventative care continues to grow and these clinics across our state will provide these critical services."

"Community Health Centers are a vital means of health delivery in Arkansas," said Snyder.
"Our community health centers help extend adequate and affordable health care services to our small towns and communities," said Ross. "I am pleased to join my colleagues in announcing these economic recovery funds as we help ensure our health care facilities have the necessary resources they need to best serve the needs of their local communities."
