Brown Lauds Rep. Hilda Solis' Appointment as Labor Secretary

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement on the installation of Congresswoman Hilda Solis as Labor Secretary.
"We need a strong voice for working families in the Labor Department. Hilda Solis, as Labor Secretary, will lead the fight to combat the soaring rate of joblessness and provide support for displaced workers. Her confirmation represents a step in a new direction to give the 11.6 million unemployed Americans the assurance they need that we will rebuild this country.

I worked closely with Secretary Solis in the House of Representatives, and I look forward to working with her in the future. I am confident that she will be a strong advocate for American workers and entrepreneurs, and an asset to the Obama administration. She shares the goal of protecting American workers and putting this country back on track. Under her leadership, we can move forward towards recovery and a stronger, more secure future."
