Feigenholtz Statement on President Obama's Address to Joint Session of Congress
"I have spent the last 14 years working to expand health care to women, children, families and seniors here in Illinois and could not agree more with President Obama that reforming our health care system simply cannot wait. Over the last three months, I've been talking to voters in every corner of the 5th Congressional District and many of them fear that they are just a pink slip away from losing their job and losing their health care. I know that hard working Americans have the will to lift themselves up, but they need leaders in Washington who will rise above bickering and political gamesmanship to do what needs to be done.
"We will not fix our health care system overnight, but as President Obama said this evening, we must put a down payment on the commitment to extend quality, affordable health care to every single American - and do it now. This will create jobs and reduce health care costs for all Americans. I'll be ready on day one to partner with President Obama as well as Republicans and Democrats in Congress on expanding health care to those who need it because that has been my mission in the state legislature."
