Washington, D.C.) Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (CA-46), a former speechwriter and campaign press secretary for President Reagan, made the following statement on the passing of President Reagan:

"Reagan is gone, but his legacy remains: he left us a safer and more prosperous America, in a world where hundreds of millions of people are now living in freedom who otherwise would have been suffering under tyranny and oppression.

"President Reagan's steadfast leadership won the cold war, revitalized our economy, rebuilt our military, lowered taxes, cut bureaucratic red tape and gave back the American dream to America.

"He made us proud to be Americans once again."
