Capps Statement Responding to President-Elect Obama's Speech on the Economy

Congresswoman Lois Capps released the following statement today following President-Elect Obama's speech on the economy:

"I was very pleased to hear President-elect Obama's speech today on the need for immediate and bold intervention to address our growing economic crisis. I agree that the Federal Government must move quickly and decisively to get our deeply troubled economy back on track. We are in a deep and growing hole because of the greed of too many on Wall Street, the economic policies of the last 8 years and the hands-off attitude of federal regulators. Too many people on the South and Central Coasts and across America have lost their jobs in the last year and too many more will lose theirs in the coming year if we don't move quickly to enact the type of economic stimulus package laid out by the President-elect. I'm more than a little concerned that this effort could be stalled by delaying tactics, particularly in the Senate. I urge all my colleagues to put aside partisanship and to work together to help all Americans get through these troubled times."
