Remembering September 11th

Dear Friend,

Today, Americans are marking the 7th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11th. In memorials across the country, we are honoring the lives of those who were lost that tragic day, and expressing our gratitude to those who are working to keep our communities and our country safe. One of the best ways we can do that is by setting aside our differences and working together to move our country forward.

In those dark days and weeks that followed the attacks, Americans came together. Our leaders in Washington focused on our nation's interests, not their party's interests. And we discovered there's a lot more that unites us than divides us.

In those dark days and weeks that followed the attacks, Americans came together. Our leaders in Washington focused on our nation's interests, not their party's interests. And we discovered there's a lot more that unites us than divides us.

Today, our country is facing some of the most serious challenges I've seen in my lifetime: a crippling dependence on oil, a teetering housing market, and a broken health care system. We are facing higher unemployment and lower wages; increased prices and fewer opportunities to get ahead.

To meet these challenges, we need leaders who will, once again, put the nation's interests first. When we do, I think Republicans and Democrats agree on more than we disagree.

We agree that every child should have access to a quality education, and that lack of money should never prevent someone from seeing a doctor. We recognize the dangers of relying on foreign countries for our energy sources, and we all want our fighting men and women to return home safely as soon as possible.

There will be disagreements and spirited debate over how we reach these goals, but our disagreements in Washington, DC have got to stop getting in the way of finding real solutions for America.

September 11th should be a reminder to all of us that no matter what challenges America faces, we're stronger when we face them together.

I will do my part by continuing to work for common sense solutions here in Washington.

God bless America.

Sincerely,

Brad Ellsworth
