Congressman Don Cazayoux participated in a conference call last night with the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) Executive Director Chris Cox and NRA members in the 6th Congressional district . Over 500 6th District NRA members participated in the call, and several were able to ask Chris Cox and Congressman Cazayoux questions about important issues facing gun owners.
"We have a true friend in Congressman Don Cazayoux," Cox said. "We know we can trust him to stand up to whoever it may be- Republican or Democrat- to protect our Second Amendment rights ."
On the call, Congressman Cazayoux talked about his co-sponsorship of the Second Amendment Enforcement Act, which legislatively confirmed the Supreme Court 's historic decision in District of Columbia vs. Heller. The Heller decision was seen by gun advocates as affirming an individual's right to bear arms when it overturned some of the District of Columbia's restrictions on gun ownership. The bill passed the House in September with overwhelming bi-partisan support.
"As an avid hunter and fisherman and someone who was born and raised in a rural part of the district, I know that the right to keep and bear arms is not just a political issue; it's a way of life," Cazayoux said. "I am honored to have the endorsement of the National Rifle Association , and I will always work with them to protect our Second Amendment rights."
Congressman Cazayoux has an A rating from the NRA Political Victory Fund , and has been endorsed by the organization. The NRA is America's foremost gun-rights advocacy organization and boasts over 4 million members nationwide. Congressman Cazayoux is also a member of the National Rifle Association.
"Congressman Cazayoux got his endorsement the old fashioned way: he earned it," Cox said. "On issue after issue in the Louisiana legislature and in Congress, Don Cazayoux stood for us. Now it's time for us to stand with him. I urge you to vote freedom first, and vote for Congressman Don Cazayoux."
