Thank you very much for all of your help in our overwhelming victory. I cannot thank you enough for your tireless support in this campaign. We built a great team over the past few months, and it culminated with 66% of the vote on Tuesday night.
Everyone worked very hard, and our hard work definitely paid off. The fact that we received a strong majority in each of the six parishes of the 1st Congressional District shows that our message of restoring conservative values to Congress is a philosophy that crosses party and geographic lines.
Yesterday was our fifth election in the last 13 months, and you have stood by me through them all. We have faced more than $3 million in false negative attacks against us through these elections. In this race alone we were outspent by a margin of 4 - 1. But last night's victory proved that when you stand up for conservative values, people will stand with you. Jennifer, Madison, and I want to thank you again for your strong support.
As we look ahead to the next Congress and a new presidential administration, our country will be facing many challenges. I will continue to work with Governor Jindal and our entire Congressional Delegation to get the funds we need to restore our coast and build a stronger level of hurricane protection. We need to pass a comprehensive national energy policy. We need to reign in out-of-control spending in Washington. And as we continue working to fix our struggling economy, the last thing we need to do in an economic downturn is to raise taxes.
With all our challenges, America is still the greatest country in the history of the world. We can tackle these challenges if we work together and address them head on. I will continue fighting for the principles that make America great. It is truly an honor to be your voice in Congress.
Thank you and God Bless America,
