SOUTHWEST LOUISIANANS DEMAND BOUSTANY RETURN HIS VOTING CARD TO THE PEOPLE
FACTSHEET
On October 3, 2008, Congressman Charles Boustany voted for a $700 billion bill to bailout greedy Wall Street bankers after voting just days before against it. The legislation did nothing to fix the problems that lead to our current economic predicament.
When Wall Street needed help, it took Mr. Boustany less than a week to open up the taxpayers' wallet.
When it came to a pay raise for Members of Congress he accepted thousands of taxpayer dollars; and in 2007, he voted against an attempt to block the yearly raise [HR 517, Vote #580, 6/27/07].
When presented with votes that would help our farmers, local police, children, students and veterans, Mr. Boustany didn't have a problem saying "NO":
Boustany voted "NO" 5 times to expand health insurance for children. [HR3963, Vote #22, 1/23/08], [HR 3963, Vote #1009, 10/25/07], HR 976, Vote #982, 10/18/07], HR 976, Vote #906, 9/25/07], [HR 3162, Vote #787, 8/1/07].
Boustany voted to cut funding for No Child Left Behind twice. [HR 3010, Vote #598, 11/17/05].
Boustany voted against legislation to help Southwest Louisiana farmers who lost crops after Hurricane Rita. [HR 1591, Vote # 186, 3/23/07]
Boustany voted against fully offset, fiscally responsible legislation that would provide a new GI Bill for our men and women who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. [HR 2642, Vote # 330, 5/15/2008]

Boustany was one of less than 100 members of Congress to vote against
legislation that would provide close to $20 billion to aid for students and college graduates, increase the Pell Grant by nearly $500, and provide student debt forgiveness to certain public sector workers. [HR 2669, Vote #864, 9/7/
