I believe our Constitution protects the rights of all individuals, born and unborn.
On April 18, 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the "Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act," which I cosponsored and voted for when it was approved in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act was signed into law in 2003.
Without a doubt, I believe the Court's decision is a result of the American people having spoken through their elected representatives on the most serious of issues: life and death. Congress heeded these concerns and acted swiftly to end what a vast majority of Americans, including medical professionals, view as barbaric and the purposeful killing of infants who would undoubtedly survive outside of their mother's womb if given a chance at life. I believe our Constitution protects the rights of all individuals, born and unborn, and the Court's majority opinion respects that sacred principle. This is a historic day for upholding the right to life enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.
