Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today joined the U.S. Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne in emphasizing the importance of clean, renewable energy. Joined by community leaders, Bono Mack and Secretary Kempthorne toured a Wintec Wind Energy Facility and discussed the need to expand clean alternative energy in the 45th District and throughout the nation.
"Wind energy will play an increasingly important role in helping us meet our nation's energy needs," said Bono Mack. "I am pleased that the Secretary of the Interior joined me in seeing one example of the abundant clean energy resource potential in the Coachella Valley.
"As a nation, we need to diversify and expand our energy portfolio to ensure more affordable, reliable energy both now and into the future. Renewable energy is a key component of this plan and will put us on track to bringing more American-made energy online for us all."
During the tour, Bono Mack and Secretary Kempthorne discussed ways to utilize federal lands overseen by the Department of the Interior to bring more renewable energy online in an environmentally-sensitive manner. Bono Mack noted that the recent tax credits passed by Congress will help incentivize local residents and entrepreneurs to embrace the benefits of renewable energy.
