Issues: Transportation
Transportation and infrastructure are key components of economic development efforts in North Carolina and the Fifth District. This past year, I secured funding for the I-40/Union Cross Road Interchange; for improvements to the eastern section from U.S. Highway 52 to Business 40 and the Eastern Extension from Business 40 to U.S. Highway 311; for widening of U.S. Highway 221 in Jefferson; for improvements I-40/I-77 Interchange; for improvements to the Statesville Regional Airport; and for rail relocation at the Piedmont Triad Research Park.
