Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, is pleased to note that several important South Florida projects were included for funding in the Continuing Resolution Bill. The legislation will now be signed into law by the President.
Ros-Lehtinen secured the following funds for these important projects in the cities of Miami Beach and Miami:
- $1,000,000 -- City of Miami Beach Emergency Operations/Communications Center upgrades.
- $1,000,000 for the City of Miami Stormwater Drainage Improvements.
- $2.4 million for eye trauma and disease research at the University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
- $1.6 million for chemical exposure monitoring devices developed by Florida International University
Said Ros-Lehtinen: "These federal funds will help our municipalities during these very tough economic times. I will continue working with the other members of the Florida Congressional Delegation so that our State receives its fair share of federal assistance."
