Schuring Affirms His Support For The Arts
Kirk Schuring reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the arts Tuesday night during a candidates forum at Kent State University/Stark campus.
"We're very fortunate to have such a rich tradition of the arts here in Stark County," said Schuring, who began his support of the arts in the 1980s.
"Before I ever ran for elected office, I helped as part of the business and volunteer community by serving on the board of directors of the Players Guild."
Schuring, Republican-Jackson Township, said the arts unites a community.
"When you go downtown (Canton) for First Friday, you see a sense of oneness that the arts brings."
Schuring also said the arts serve as motivation for young people.
"The arts create an appetite for learning by stimulating the mind. This helps students bring out their creativity and innovation, which is so critical in their learning," he said.
"I will work very hard to promote the arts in Congress because it helps a community in so many ways."
