Luetkemeyer Supports Domestic Oil Exploration While Baker Opposes It

With National Republican Campaign Committee Chairman Tom Cole by his side, Blaine Luetkemeyer today outlined his affordable energy plan that includes increased domestic oil exploration and long-term use of alternative fuels to help reduce the price of gasoline at the pump.

Luetkemeyer has long-supported the responsible and environmentally friendly exploration for oil in our own country and his plan was supported by Cole, who praised Luetkemeyer's plan and his commitment to challenging Democrats that oppose lifting the ban against exploration along America's coasts. Luetkemeyer also has called on reducing red tape that has prevented the building of new domestic oil refineries.

Luetkemeyer's plan stands in stark contrast to Judy Baker, who told The Columbia Daily Tribune on June 26 that she opposed increased exploration for domestic energy resources. Instead, Baker has been toeing the national Democrat line of trying to place political blame for higher prices rather than offering real solutions.

"While I am committed to fixing a broken Congress that has failed us on issues like domestic oil exploration, Judy Baker will only break Congress because she opposes those efforts to reduce prices at the pump," Luetkemeyer said. "The people of the 9th Congressional District are tired of being held hostage by foreign oil producing nations and I will fight in Congress for our families, farmers, ranchers and small business people who are being hurt by out-of-control gas prices."
