Convention Update: On the Way to the Press Conference

Rosa DeLauro here. Live from the Democratic Convention. It is great to be able to share this Convention with you and I look forward to your feedback and comments.

I just came from a press event with my House Democratic colleagues and we were talking about our efforts to pass a comprehensive energy policy. Unfortunately, we keep running in to the brick wall of the House republicans - here is to the next Congress and an even larger majority.

As we were riding in one of Denver's hybrid buses - similar to our environmentally-friendly transit here in New Haven that runs on natural gas and fuel cell technology, my colleagues and I were talking about how important infrastructure funding is to each of our districts - not just roads and bridges, but sewer systems and light rails. For any of you who have sat in the congestion of 95, you understand this need as well. And how it is time to end this ridiculous starvation of our infrastructure needs.

By the way, that comprehensive energy policy we continue to fight to get enacted would focus on accelerating production, investing in alternative and renewable energies, so we can move them from the labs to the market place. This is in addition to a responsible domestic drilling program that ends royalty holidays for oil and gas companies that deprive taxpayers of revenue they deserve, ends subsidies for profit-rich oil companies, and requires Big Oil to drill the oil leases they already own.

Imagine what we might accomplish for this country with a President Obama and a larger majority in Congress.
