Wexler Apartment Rental: Too Little Too Late

Edward Lynch Candidate Congress FL- 19

Too Little, Too Late

Edward Lynch, Congressional Candidate (FL-19) responds to the release of a statement by Congressman Wexler indicating his intention to lease his own property in Florida for he and his wife.

This is tantamount to an admission of guilt. For 11 years Mr. Wexler has been duping his constituents. If he was doing nothing wrong, why would he have to lease an apartment now? His claim of caring about what his constituents wishes are is a complete falsehood as he proved when he demanded that only 50% of their votes be counted while he "represented" Barack Obama.

No matter how many properties he leases now, the simple matter of fact is that he has been a Maryland resident for the past 11 years as is proven by every document that states the house in Potomac, Maryland is his "Principal Residence". His claim today that he made a mistake while signing documents at the closing on his Maryland house and that he corrected it once he realized it is a complete falsehood, evidenced by his own paperwork.

First of all, Mr. Wexler is an attorney and a congressman, does he really expect us to believe that he did not know what he was signing, or that it took him 6 years to discover it? If he meant to correct that "erroneous signing" 5 years ago in 2003, why did he sign a loan document on 5/14/04 for a home equity line of credit that listed the property as the "grantee's principal residence"? More recently, he signed and notarized a document from Chevy Chase Bank on 5/28/05 (only 3 years ago) that stated, ".and the property herein described is my principal residence"?

Mr. and Mrs. Wexler's own notarized signatures show their clear intention to remain Maryland residents despite what his office claims. Once again, he is an attorney and a congressman who knew what he was doing and it is insulting for him to believe that we are not smart enough to see the truth.

It is our contention that Mr. Wexler should be removed from congress or resign for being a resident of Maryland and not Florida, contrary to a constitutional requirement that he be an inhabitant of the state that he represents. We are also filing papers with all applicable agencies to further investigate this matter and various other legal matters that Mr. and Mrs. Wexler may be in violation of.
