Little Rock, Jacksonville, Pine Bluff, Benton, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, and Camden to Benefit
U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln today announced that the Senate has authorized funding for significant defense projects in Arkansas as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009.
"This bipartisan bill will ensure our troops have the resources and training they need before, during and after they are deployed. This includes a 3.9% pay increase for all uniformed personnel, enhanced technologies to combat WMDs and IEDs, and improvements in medical benefits for the Guard and Reserves," said Pryor. "As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I am well aware of how Arkansas' military instillations, universities and companies play a critical role in maintaining our national security. This legislation authorizes significant funding to advance their work and support the needs of our brave men and women in combat."
"As we strive to make our country more secure, it is important that the federal government supports efforts in Arkansas that contribute to a strong national defense," said Lincoln. "This bill includes critical funding that will strengthen Arkansas's military efforts and economy while also providing soldiers with the resources they need to safely and effectively serve our country."
