APPLAUDS COLLEGE BOARD REPORT ON REFORMING STUDENT AID

Today, the College Board released the "Rethinking Student Aid" study group's final report, "Fulfilling the Commitment: Recommendations for Reforming Federal Student Aid." The report offers recommendations for improving the federal student aid system by making it more accessible and more effective in helping students.

Melissa Wagoner, spokeswoman for Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, said, "Senator Kennedy applauds the group's call for increasing the Pell grant, strengthening loan repayment programs, and simplifying the federal aid application process and the Senator will continue to fight for these priorities in addition to—not at the expense of—other vital student aid programs like work-study, TEACH grants, and SEOG."
