U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative John Boozman (AR-03) today announced nearly $200,000 in funds for Benton County's Drug Court.
The 19th Judicial District West Adult Drug Court program will receive $199,983 through the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
"Many Arkansans live with the daily struggle of drug addiction. It's a problem that affects not only the individual, but his or her family, friends and community," said Lincoln. "These funds will help drug users overcome the cycle of addiction and live healthy, productive lives."
"Drug courts are a proven and effective tool in addressing drug use, particularly the methamphetamine epidemic that is damaging our communities," said Pryor. "Beefing up Benton County's Drug Court staff will help ensure fair and efficient judicial proceedings."
"Drug courts make a tremendous impact in our communities," Boozman said. "Thousands of people have been helped through their efforts in the Third District and this funding will allow an expansion of services to meet the needs of a population that needs our attention."
This grant allows Benton County to hire a full-time Drug Court Counselor and Drug Court Staff Assistant. The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program supports adult drug court implementation, single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, statewide drug court enhancement and planning efforts.
