Access to affordable, quality care health care

"America's health care delivery system, our doctors, health care providers, and medical researchers are second to none. I have promoted, and will continue to promote, policies that ensure that health care costs are kept low without sacrificing patient access to top quality medical care." - Charlie Dent

Charlie believes that decisions about your health should be between you and your doctor. Your health decisions should never be between you, your doctor, and a lawyer. A government bureaucrat or politician should not be telling you what treatments, surgeries or prescription drugs you are allowed to have. Charlie Dent has voted to reduce frivolous lawsuits that restrict access to care by driving doctors out of their practices, and he opposes a government takeover of our health care system.

He believes that we must give individuals and families the same tax treatment that businesses enjoy when purchasing health insurance as a way to reduce the number of uninsured Americans. He introduced legislation extending health care coverage for people who become unemployed (H.R. 2047), and Charlie has voted to make it easier and cheaper for small businesses to offer health care to their employees.

Charlie has voted numerous times to stop President Bush from cutting funding for medical research and weakening the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). As our Representative, Charlie has supported critical medical research and the reauthorization of SCHIP. Charlie also supports the continued development of Health Information Technology and the use of electronic medical records as a way to lower costs in the system and improve care.
