As a product of western Pennsylvania's public schools and a father of two young children, Jason strongly supports public education and is working to strengthen our schools. Through his role on the House Education Committee, he has been a leader in improving our nation's Head Start programs and is helping to reform the No Child Left Behind law to deliver on the promise of increased funding and provide real accountability.
Jason also has a long history of involvement with higher education in western Pennsylvania, having served as an active board member of local colleges and universities. He understands the effects that the rising cost of education is having on our local families and wants to both make college more affordable for western Pennsylvania's families and ease students' debt. That is why he helped draft and pass the College Cost Reduction and Access Act which represents the largest increase in student financial aid since the GI bill, and he voted for the College Student Relief Act, which would cut interest rates in half for undergraduates with subsidized student loans.
