Congressman Yarmuth believes that we can no longer ignore the need for comprehensive immigration reform.
When he recently visited the Mexican border to review the needs of our Border Patrol agents, Congressman Yarmuth was impressed by the courage of our agents in the face of daily danger and understands the need to provide them with additional resources. Congressman Yarmuth voted to provide $9.4 billion for Customs and Border Protection, a $1.2 billion increase over the previous year. He understands that immigration reform is first and foremost an issue of national security, and he voted to fully adopt the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission as a first step in fully reforming the country's flawed immigration system.
The Congressman is also committed to strictly enforcing our nation's employment laws. He advocates employer accountability with a strong verification system and a worker program that will protect American jobs and businesses.
