Issue Position: War on Terror

Issue Position

Prior to September 11th, our country felt protected from threats by our oceans. After this devastating tragedy occurred, our nation faced more obstacles than we had yet to see. Our great country's liberty, values, and principles were tested by acts of terror, and there was nothing left to do but defend freedom here and abroad. We are now in the midst of a battle to preserve peace and sovereignty in Iraq, and help those people stand freely on their own. With the strong leadership of our President and our courageous military, our country and Iraq will prevail.

The United States has always had a clear goal, understood by all: to see the Iraqi people in charge of Iraq for the first time in generations, to be a liberating force - not an occupying force. The American lead coalition's task in Iraq was not only to defeat an enemy, it was also to give strength to a friend - a free, representative government that serves its people and fights on their behalf.
