Issue Position: Pro-Family,Pro-Life
It has been thirty-five years since the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade legalized the atrocity of abortion nationwide. Since that day, over 40 million innocent lives have been taken, all in the name of "choice." I believe that a parent's "choice" begins before the moment of conception, not afterwards. In fact, three of the founding members of the pro-abortion movement have since seen the folly of their arguments and changed their stances to pro-life: Norma McCorvey, the "Roe" in Roe v. Wade; Sandra Cano from Doe v. Bolton, which legalized late-term abortions; and Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who co-founded the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL). Congress should enact an amendment to the Constitution that protects life that makes it clear that the 14th Amendment's protections apply to unborn children. I also support legislation that bans partial-birth abortions once and for all. We in Congress must continue our efforts to enact legislation that protects the unborn and continues the advancement of the pro-life movement. I support President Bush's efforts to end all Federal funding of abortions, and I will support legislation in Congress that furthers his goals. The very sanctity of human life is at stake.
