Education is the foundation of opportunity. A strong education system provides Americans from across the country the knowledge and training they need to be the successful leaders and innovators of tomorrow.

When Congresswoman Sanchez is at home in Orange County, the most important work she does is visit local schools and neighborhoods. As she promised during her first weeks in office, Congresswoman Sanchez has visited each and every public school in the 47th Congressional District. She has learned first hand what the schools in Orange County really need--more teachers, classrooms, and resources.

To address the need for new schools and classrooms, Congresswoman Sanchez has introduced H.R. 740, "The Expand and Rebuild America's Schools Act." The bill would provide a federal incentive for localities to pass local bond initiatives by offering a new class of interest-free bonds. The federal government would provide a tax credit to investors in lieu of the interest payments that would otherwise be made by the school districts.
