Dave supports the constitutionally protected rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. Congressman Camp has been a long-time friend to Michigan sportsmen and hunters and will continue to defend our Second Amendment rights in Congress. Dave believes the federal government should enforce existing gun laws and fight any attempt to pass new anti-gun legislation.

Congressman Camp strongly supports the Protection of Lawful Commerce Arms Act that protects gun manufacturers, distributors, dealers and ammunition makers from law suit abuse by removing their liability when a gun is used to commit a crime. The legislation also dismisses any such cases pending in state or federal court. This was an important step to hold harmless those who legally sell and own guns and keep the pressure on criminals by increasing penalties for those who traffic and misuse guns.

Dave also supports the District of Columbia Personal Protection Act. This legislation would allow DC residents the same self-defense rights as residents of the 50 states. The bill would allow law-abiding citizens to own rifles, shotguns and handguns, without the present registration requirements. It would also allow people to use guns to protect their homes and families.

Congressman Camp believes we should continue to keep guns out of the hands of criminals but not infringe on the gun rights of lawful citizens. Dave will continue to stand up for gun owners and block any attempt to intrude on our Second Amendment rights. Dave is proud to have earned an "A" ranking from the NRA for his support of gun owners.
