Senator Clinton Meets with Members of the Niagara Military Affairs Council to Discuss Support for Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton met today with members of the Niagara Military Affairs Council (NIMAC) in Washington to discuss the needs and concerns of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. In 2005, Senator Clinton, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, worked closely with NIMAC to successfully remove the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station from the Department of Defense's (DoD) list of bases recommended to close as part of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission process.
"I was proud to work with NIMAC to keep the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station open, but there is a lot more to do to provide the station with the resources, equipment, and support it needs to complete its important mission," Senator Clinton said. "I was very pleased to once again meet with the members of NIMAC, discuss ongoing concerns and needs of the station, and continue our partnership. Like NIMAC, I remain committed to doing everything I can to help ensure the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station's long term future."
At a recent hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Clinton underscored to three nominees for senior Air Force leadership posts the critical importance of New York's Air Force installations and the need to support their ongoing role in our national and homeland security and invited the nominees to visit New York Air Force installations, including Niagara Falls.
