Rehberg Statement on House Vote to Override the President's Veto of Medicare Bill

Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today issued the following statement in response to a House vote to successfully override the President's veto of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act which will stop a scheduled 10.6 percent cut in Medicare payments to physicians:

"The President's refusal to put a halt to proposed Medicare physician's payment cuts is just one more example of where he and I disagree when it comes to rural priorities. Seniors in Montana depend on the program for affordable access to healthcare. Any reductions in the payments to Medicare physicians will severely hinder that access by limiting the amount of patients each physician is able to serve. This bill is the right move and I'm glad my colleagues and I were able to override the veto."
