Blackburn On The Economy: "Now Is Not The Time To Tax Too Much So That Government Can Spend Too Much"
Longer Term Pro-growth Policies Must Be Adopted
Economic indicators released today indicate that the economy lost 63,000 jobs in February, the largest loss in five years. The Federal Reserve also confirmed that Americans' equity in their homes fell below 50% for the first time since 1945. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) made the following remarks in response to the news:
"Official economic indicators released today bear out what I hear from my constituents; Tennesseans have too much month left at the end of their money. The economic stimulus package passed last month may provide a short term boost, but to correct the economic trend, longer term pro-growth policies must be adopted. The budget Democrats unveiled yesterday will take this country in exactly the wrong direction. Now is not the time to tax too much so that government can spend too much."
