DOLE TEAMS WITH BIPARTISAN GROUP OF SENATORS TO CALL FOR NATIONAL ENERGY SUMMIT, COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION
Today U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, along with a bipartisan group of 14 Senators, called on the president to hold a national summit with congressional and national leaders to break down partisan barriers and develop a comprehensive solution to America's energy crisis.
"Although both political parties have outlined energy policies, neither has yet been able to achieve the bipartisan consensus necessary to forge a workable path forward," wrote Dole and her colleagues. "The energy stalemate must be broken - and we believe it can be broken, if there is a demonstrable, good-faith commitment from both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue."
"Families struggling to afford record high gas prices don't have time for partisan politics," said Dole. "This is a serious problem that requires a comprehensive solution."
