Stone Makes July 4th Call for A New Declaration of Independence
America's gas crisis is just a symptom of a growing challenge to continued American independence, according to Republican Congressional Candidate John Stone - and Stone is calling for a new Declaration of Independence in response.
In a districtwide radio campaign over the July 4th holiday weekend, Stone blamed House Democrats, financial special interests, and OPEC for the high cost of gas. "We have more oil and energy resources than any country on earth, but Democrats in Congress refuse to allow us to use them, while OPEC and Wall Street speculators drain our economy dry." The former news anchor has repeatedly called for a 10-year plan to end oil imports through new domestic drilling, increased nuclear and alternative power, and expanded use of electric/hydrid vehicles along with higher fuel economy standards for all vehicles.
Stone also called for a deployment of 50,000 troops to secure the southern and northern borders of the United States to end illegal entries, and for new international trade and farm policies to preserve and restore America's manufacturing and farm sectors.
"If we are to remain truly independent, we have to break our growing reliance on foreign powers for the basic requirements of our nation," Stone says. "A sovereign modern nation must be able to defend itself, secure its borders, feed and clothe its citizens, and have reliable access to affordable energy. Our current federal policies do no meet those requirements, and must be changed."
