A Statement by Senator Mark Pryor On Iraqi Prisoner Abuse

The abuse that took place in the Abu Ghraib prison is appalling, wrong, and against the principles America stands for. This Administration and Congress have an obligation to investigate this matter fully, punish everyone responsible and ensure that it never happens again.

This news is particularly disappointing because we know, without a doubt, that 99.9 percent of our service men and women serve with distinction and honor, and are overseas risking life and limb to bring freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people. I am proud of our soldiers and support them and their mission to the fullest extent.
