Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) issued the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the District of Columbia's 32-year ban on handgun ownership in District of Columbia v. Heller.
Mack, who signed an amicus brief in support of Heller in January, said:
"Today's Supreme Court decision in District of Columbia v. Heller is monumental. It is the first time in over 200 years that the Court has ruled on the question of the right of the individual to keep and bear arms.
"Today's ruling by the Supreme Court strongly reaffirms the Second Amendment: " the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
"This is a victory not only for those who support the Second Amendment, but for all those who cherish the precepts of the Constitution, and the ideals of freedom and individual liberty."
