Luetkemeyer Lauds Supreme Court Ruling Protecting Second Amendment Rights
As a longtime supporter of our Second Amendment rights, 9th Congressional District Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer today lauded the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting.
The nation's highest court, in a 5-4 decision, agreed that Americans have the individual right to bear arms under the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Luetkemeyer in the past been endorsed by the National Rifle Association and was a vocal supporter of the ballot measure supported by a majority Missourians that allowed law-abiding citizens to carry weapons for protection against those that would threaten individuals and their families.
"The Supreme Court's decision is a major victory for our rights as Americans and further increases my resolve to ensure that Congress stays out of the way of those who lawfully enjoy those rights," Luetkemeyer said. "The people of the 9th District can be sure that as a member of Congress I will be a vocal and active opponent against those that would seek to take our Second Amendment rights away."
