Issue Position: Earth: Our Only Home
Wildlife enthusiasts, hikers, surfers, campers, hunters, and anglers' way of life depends on unpolluted, undrilled, undeveloped land, rivers and streams. This earth is our only home. We must protect the land of our forefathers, the air we breath, the water our children drink, the streams we fish, the game we hunt, the trails we climb with our children, the waves we surf, the gracious majesty of our landscape, and God's earth.
What is the threat? John Campbell scored a zero for his votes on conservation and the environment because in every vote he treated our earth's future like a liquidation sale -- siding with those who want to exploit our environment for profit rather than preserve the earth for all.
Preserving the earth's resources is a priority for me. Environmental cheaters have much to fear when I am elected. I support strict emission regulations and punishment to limits of the law for polluters. Washington must stop looking the other way because of corporate contributors and lobbyists, and start looking out for the earth's future.
With gas prices and oil imports rising, our nation's security and prosperity require that we launch a concerted drive for energy independence. We must mobilize the scientific community, promote production of fuel efficient cars, invest in more efficient factories and appliances, and expand our development of alternative energy sources - like wind, solar, and bio-fuels. Conservation will make us more efficient, save money, clean our air and water, and keep our children healthy. Renewable, alternative fuels will dramatically reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and release us from our marriage of convenience with Saudi Arabia.
Americans demand a culture of responsible energy consumption. With the help of alternative sources and responsible consumption, we can be wise stewards of the earth's resources while preserving the mountains high and our clear blue skies.
We must be the change we want, and show commitment to our principles. If you feel as I do that a strong voice for our home is important in Congress, please contribute to my "This Is Our Only Home" campaign. Money is the mechanism by which we spread our message and make a difference.
