Blackburn Leads Charge Against High Gas Prices
Democrats Must Clear Roadblocks to a Lower Price at the Pump
Rep. Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) stood with her Republican colleagues today as they proposed real action to immediately reduce the staggering price of gasoline. On a day when gas prices across Tennessee's 7th district reached historic highs, Blackburn set forth a series of solutions that could bring that price down. Congressman Blackburn explained the Republican plan for lower gas prices on C-Span's Washington Journal this morning before joining her colleagues for a Capitol Hill Press Conference.
"Tennesseans are ahead of Congress where gas prices are concerned. They know that to get the price at the pump down, Congress must clear the roadblocks to increased domestic supply. It costs a mom about $86 more a month to fill the mini-van than it did in January 2007 when Democrats took Congress. That mom is tired of her family budget being used as a laboratory for Democrat and environmentalists' pet policies. As we begin the Memorial Day travel week, I am calling on Democrats to embrace these common sense solutions and give Tennesseans a needed break."
