Issue Position: Stem Cell Research

Stem cell research has the potential to improve the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of people. I support stem cell research on existing and adult stem cell lines to find cures for illnesses such as diabetes, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease. As a person who holds a consistent pro-life ethic, I strictly oppose the creation of a fetus solely for the purpose of destroying it and harvesting its stem cells, and I feel that we should expand research into the possibility of creating new stem cell lines without the need to destroy embryos.
