Dodd Voices Support for Bill to Alleviate Pain at the Pump

As gas prices across the nation continue to skyrocket, Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) today cosponsored the Consumer-First Energy Act of 2008, a bill introduced by Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) to address the root causes of high gas prices and hold oil companies accountable. Senator Dodd is committed to alleviating the pain at the pump for American consumers and strengthening the nation's economic, energy and national security.

"Hard-working families in Connecticut and across the nation are taking a major hit to their pocketbooks every time they fill up the tank," said Dodd. "This bill will put an end to the tax breaks for oil companies that were established by the Bush Administration, and invest those funds in renewable energy. It is time for Congress to take a stand for consumers, to protect them from price-gouging and the oil companies who are still posting record profits as American families suffer."
