David Grimes is married to the former Barbara Calhoun of Opelika, Alabama. They have two sons: John David, 21, who presently is working towards an Accounting degree at Troy University and Tyler, 17, who is a junior at Trinity Presbyterian School. David received his Business degree from Troy University in Troy, Alabama where he continues to be an active alumni member.
David was raised in the rural community of Phenix City, Alabama and was the
oldest of eight children. David and Barbara have resided in Montgomery for over 30 years. They are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) where David actively serves as a Deacon. David has been in the insurance business since 1981 and holds NASD and Alabama Real Estate licenses. He is also certified by the Alabama Bar Association to do mediation. David is an active member in Montgomery where he volunteers and serves on a number of committees and organizations.
David was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in November of 2002 for District 73 in Montgomery and is presently serving his second term. He serves on these standing legislative committees: Banking and Insurance, Commerce, Economic Development Subcommittee, Internal Affairs, Vice Chair of the Insurance Regulations Subcommittee, as well as, serving on the National Council of State Legislators Labor and Workforce Committee.
David brings the experience of running a business and presently assists his wife's retail business, "Barb's on Mulberry", in Montgomery, while maintaining a healthy home environment and civic responsibility.
