Jim believes that family comes first. His marriage of forty years to wife Vicki led to the distinction of the couple being selected as Idaho's Healthy Marriage Ambassadors, promoting healthy marriages and strong families in Idaho. Jim believes that fundamental to any strong family is a respect for life.

"I am a strong supporter of our second amendment right to keep and bear arms. All law-abiding citizens have a right to own guns whether for hunting, self-protection or just the pleasure of ownership, it is a personal liberty that I will vigorously defend. As a lifelong member of the NRA I know that all of us must be vigilant in opposing efforts to restrict our right to own guns."
