Iraq War Must Come to an End

Statement

Date: March 19, 2008
Location: Washington, DC

With today marking the fifth year of the war in Iraq, Chief Deputy Whip Diana DeGette (D-CO) offered the following statement:

"Over the course of five years, we have spent billions of dollars, endured the loss of countless lives, and put our national security at risk. The Bush Administration's War in Iraq has failed and Congress must not continue to support this misadventure.

"I opposed giving President Bush authorization to go to war in 2002, and I remain committed to ending this failed war and bringing our troops home quickly and safely. I will continue to oppose any measure that does not include withdrawal timelines and political benchmarks to bring a responsible end to this irresponsible war."
