Statement from Kerry on OPEC's Decision Today

Location: Washington, DC

March 31, 2004

For Immediate Release
Washington, DC

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry issued the following statement on today's decision by OPEC and Bush's continued failure to address America's record high gas prices:

"In 2000, Bill Richardson went to OPEC leaders and successfully worked with those countries to increase production and decrease the price of gas for American consumers. Today, George Bush was unable to achieve that same goal. Not only has George Bush let the gas prices spiral out of control, but he's squandered America's ability to do anything about it. After almost four years of this President's arrogant foreign policy, the United States has lost its credibility in the world. Diplomacy is not a word in George Bush's vocabulary, and as a result, the American people are paying high prices at the pump."
